Count Basie Walk of Fame

The Count Basie Center Walk of Fame officially welcomed its second round of inductees, Darlene Love and the Smithereens, during special ceremonies held in Red Bank on December 19, 2025. Launched as part of the venue's 100th-anniversary "Centennial Celebration," the program honors artists whose contributions reflect the enduring power of the arts and whose names are now permanently etched into plaques on the sidewalk of Monmouth Street. Darlene Love, a Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and beloved holiday tradition at the Basie, was celebrated for her 60-year career, while the Smithereens were recognized for their vital place in the American rock canon and their New Jersey roots. The evening also looked toward the future of the arts as the Pat DiNizio Musical Performance Scholarship was awarded to local students Paloma Donohue and Chloe Schneider, ensuring that the legacy of the late Smithereens frontman continues to inspire the next generation of performers. | info
