🎨 Congressional Art Competition
Wall High School students demonstrated exceptional artistic talent at the 2026 Congressional Art Competition for New Jersey's Fourth District, taking home seven of the ten major awards announced by Rep. Chris Smith on May 5. The impressive sweep was headlined by senior Julia Ahlfeld, who won "Best in Show" for her striking oil painting, "End of an Era." Ahlfeld's masterpiece will now be displayed in the U.S. Capitol, representing the district's youth alongside artwork from her talented classmates. The entries were showcased at the Community Medical Center in Toms River, where the awards ceremony honored the participants from across Monmouth and Ocean counties.
Behind this remarkable achievement is the dedicated instruction and mentorship of long-time Wall High School art teacher Jill Alexander, who has continually guided her students to success in the annual competition. Following Ahlfeld’s top finish, Wall High School students secured nearly all the runner-up and honorable mention spots under her guidance. Megan Farrell earned First Place Runner-up with a charcoal piece, while Hazel Stockton, Clarisa Herrera, and Abigail Buechler took the next three runner-up positions. Additionally, Kiley Knueppel and Alivia Czerwinski were recognized with honorable mentions for their exceptional work. This group effort highlights both the students' talent and the strong, supportive fine arts program at the school.
