🥞 Bojangles Neptune

The Southern fast-food chain Bojangles is opening a new location in Neptune, New Jersey, on November 5, 2026, at the Marketplace at Neptune shopping center, marking a major milestone in the brand's modern Northeast expansion. While the chain briefly experimented with a presence in New York City during the 1980s, its permanent push into the region began with a multi-unit development agreement in March 2022. This strategy officially materialized on April 23, 2025, with the opening of a location in Piscataway, New Jersey, followed by a massive 35-unit expansion deal across the state and a return to New York City with a Brooklyn flagship in January 2026. The upcoming Neptune restaurant will continue this momentum, bringing Bojangles' signature Southern-style fried chicken, scratch-made biscuits, and legendary sweet tea closer to Jersey Shore residents.

🥩 Jersey Shore Restaurant Week 🍷

Food lovers across Monmouth and Ocean counties are gearing up for the return of Jersey Shore Restaurant Week, which officially launches its 10-day autumn showcase from Friday, November 6 through Sunday, November 15. Spotlighting the culinary depth and off-season vibrancy of the coastal dining community, the biannual event unites more than 70 premier regional restaurants—including longtime Monmouth County staples like 26 West on the Navesink in Red Bank, Scarborough Fair in Sea Girt, Beach Tavern in Monmouth Beach, and Blend on Main in Manasquan. Diners can enjoy curated three-course dinners featuring an appetizer, entrée, and dessert priced at accessible fixed tiers of $32.26 or $42.26, alongside select two-course lunch menus. The ten-day promotion is complemented by signature culinary satellite events—including a bubbly-and-seafood tasting at Manasquan’s Coastal Canteen, an artisan burger and Pinot Noir pairing at Brielle’s Shipwreck Grill, and an exclusive wine seminar with renowned educator Kevin Zraly at Spring Lake Manor—delivering a welcome boost to local kitchens while offering shore residents a flavorful reason to support neighborhood tables before winter sets in. info

❓ Did You Know ❓

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 The North American Phalanx in Monmouth County

Tucked along the pastoral boundary of Colts Neck and Lincroft, the North American Phalanx emerged in September 1843 as the most resilient and enduring secular utopian commune of nineteenth-century America. Inspired by the communal philosophy of French theorist Charles Fourier and championed by prominent reformers such as New York Tribune editor Horace Greeley, roughly one hundred residents gathered across 673 fertile Monmouth County acres to escape the inequities of industrial society. Unlike dozens of contemporary communal ventures that quickly folded, the Phalanx thrived for over a decade by creating an equitable social cooperative centered around a grand wooden residential mansion known as the "Phalanstery". Ahead of their era, the community practiced democratic self-governance, granted women voting power and equal labor compensation, ran collective dining rooms and nurseries, and built an economically viable enterprise powered by award-winning fruit orchards, modern farming machinery, and a bustling steam-driven mill.

The agrarian experiment came to an abrupt close on September 10, 1854, when a devastating fire consumed the uninsured grist and saw mills, saddles of debt forced liquidation, and the land was auctioned off the following year. Despite the commune’s formal dissolution, its expansive wooden Phalanstery remained standing as a private dwelling for well over a century, famously serving as the birthplace of celebrated Algonquin Round Table drama critic Alexander Woollcott in 1887 before a blaze finally claimed the vacant landmark in November 1972. Today, while the communal structures have yielded to residential landscapes, Monmouth County preserves the legacy of this radical societal experiment through the local roadway that still carries its name, Phalanx Road, anchoring Colts Neck in the annals of American reform history.
