🚜 Wesley Lake Sediment Removal
Monmouth County officials have successfully wrapped up an expedited sediment removal project at Wesley Lake, restoring the waterway's drainage capacity at no cost to Asbury Park or Neptune Township. The collaborative effort, launched as a municipal assistance project following severe flash flooding on July 6, targeted a massive accumulation of post-storm sediment and debris at the lake's west end that threatened to damage local drainage infrastructure. Monmouth County Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone commended county public works employees for completing the cleanup efficiently and professionally, noting that the project highlights the outstanding results achieved when the county and its municipalities work hand-in-hand to support local communities.
🎡 Monmouth County Fair
The Monmouth County Fair is officially returning to the East Freehold Showgrounds from Wednesday, July 22, through Sunday, July 26, promising five days of classic summer entertainment, agricultural traditions, and family-friendly activities. Presented by the Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners in partnership with the Monmouth County Park System and the Monmouth County 4-H Association, this year's fair at 1500 Kozloski Road in Freehold will highlight the impressive achievements and farm animal exhibits of local 4-H youth alongside live entertainment, amusement rides, and home and garden displays. Attendees are also encouraged to visit the Monmouth County Government Tent to connect with local services ranging from Tourism and the County Clerk to the Monmouth County Library System and Brookdale Community College.
Gates are open from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, with general admission priced at $10. Children ages 12 and under, as well as veterans and active military, are admitted free, with special senior and student free admission offered on Sunday and daily half-price admission during the first two hours.

The 18th annual FilmOneFest is set to return to the scenic Atlantic Highlands Marina this Saturday, July 18, 2026, offering a completely unique, free outdoor celebration of international under-two-minute short films. Kicking off at 5 p.m. with live music, a craft market, and popular local food trucks, the family-friendly festival will begin screening its rapid-fire "two-minute wonders" at dusk. A notable update for this year's lineup is a new guideline requiring all participating filmmakers to attest that their submissions were not solely computer-generated by artificial intelligence. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and a non-perishable food donation for the Atlantic Highlands Food Pantry to enjoy a highly anticipated evening of waterfront cinema on Sandy Hook Bay.
