☑ Fall Early Voting Kickoff
In-person early voting for the 2026 General Election officially launched across Monmouth County on Saturday, October 24, providing registered residents nine consecutive days of accessible balloting ahead of Election Day. Administered under New Jersey’s early voting statute, registered voters may cast their ballots on electronic voting machines at any designated early voting site across the county through Sunday, November 1—with voting centers operating Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.. The county’s designated centers—including locations such as the Monmouth County Library Headquarters in Manalapan, Croydon Hall in Leonardo, the Long Branch Senior Center, the Church of St. Veronica gymnasium in Howell, and the Little Silver Women's Club—allow voters from any Monmouth municipality to cast their specific local ballot closer to work or home. Complete location details and voter tools are accessible directly through the New Jersey Division of Elections.

❓ Did You Know ❓
First Radar Contact with the Moon
The dawn of the Space Age quietly took flight in Wall Township on January 10, 1946, when U.S. Army Signal Corps scientists at Camp Evans achieved the first human-engineered radar contact with the moon under the top-secret mission code-named Project Diana. Seeking to discover whether radio waves could penetrate the Earth’s ionosphere to enable extraterrestrial communication, the team relied on pivotal mathematical calculations cracked by Dr. Walter S. McAfee—an African American theoretical physicist whose Doppler-shift formulas allowed the team to accurately account for the moon’s orbital velocity and distance. At 11:58 a.m., exactly 2.5 seconds after a modified radar antenna fired a high-frequency pulse into the sky, a distinct audio beep and visual blip returned across 238,000 miles of space, proving that signals could cross cosmic boundaries. By demonstrating the feasibility of long-range satellite tracking and interplanetary radio transmission, this historic moonbounce at the Monmouth County laboratory laid the fundamental bedrock for modern radar astronomy, commercial satellites, and the Apollo space program.
