🎸 SPRINGSTEEN ELECTRIC NEBRASKA!

In a recent YouTube video Bruce Springsteen announced the release of a highly anticipated five-disc box set titled “Nebraska ’82: Expanded Edition” on October 17. The collection will feature the long-rumored “Electric Nebraska” recordings, which are full-band versions of songs from his 1982 album that he ultimately decided not to release. The box set will also include a newly filmed performance of the entire Nebraska album, a remastered version of the original album, and a collection of home and solo studio recordings. To hype it up, Springsteen released a previously unheard 1982 version of “Born in the U.S.A.” The release of the box set is timed just ahead of the new movie, Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, which centers on the creation of the Nebraska album. This release follows a busy summer for The Boss, who also put out the track “Lonely Night in the Park” to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Born to Run and the massive box set Tracks 2: The Lost Albums.

🐐 BYE BYE SEA GIRT GOATS

Last month we reported on the deployment of working goats in Sea Girt, in a pilot program using a New York-based goat-grazing service to clear invasive plants along the Sea Girt side of the Wreck Pond Watershed also known as The Terrace. Green Goats Rhinebeck delivered ten goats initially to graze on a one-acre section of The Terrace. The approximately eight week and $8,000 program was funded by the borough with support from the Sea Girt Conservancy. The goats were fenced in and volunteers provided them with fresh water daily. The goats accomplished their mission of clearing the overgrowth and so departed Sea Girt on Friday en route back to New York. The conservancy now plans to evaluate the area for plans to “enhance terrain for environmental, natural habitat, and stormwater management purposes” according to the borough.

Earlier this year Jerseybites.com published their list of the best sports bars in New Jersey to watch the big game. Now, while we haven’t been to all of them in the New Jersey, we have been to all their Monmouth County picks. And their picks are spot on! So, as we kick off the regular NFL season, here are some of the best places in Monmouth County to watch football that aren’t your couch.

🍔 FREDDY’S FROZEN CUSTARD & STEAKBURGERS 🍦

Freddy’s, originally from Wichita, Kansas, opened it’s first Monmouth County location Tuesday in Holmdel. They serve an “All American” menu of steakburgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, fries, and of course frozen custard desserts. We frankly didn’t know what a steakburger was but Gemini did and apparently it’s a higher quality burger patty made from a single cut of beef like sirloin or ribeye instead of a blend. We haven’t made it to Freddy’s yet but we’re going Sunday because the reviews are great! Let us know how you like it!
