📰 NEWS
🐱 Trap Neuter Return Program
The Monmouth County SPCA is quietly making a major impact on the region’s stray and feral cat population through its Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program, one of the most extensive in New Jersey. In partnership with dozens of local municipalities—including towns like Asbury Park, Belmar, Red Bank, and Middletown Township—the program has helped thousands of community cats by humanely trapping them, providing spay/neuter services and vaccinations, and returning them to their outdoor colonies. Over the past several years, this coordinated effort has resulted in thousands of cats being treated, significantly reducing uncontrolled breeding and improving overall animal health across the county.
Beyond the numbers, the program represents a broader shift toward sustainable, humane animal welfare solutions. TNR not only helps stabilize and gradually reduce feral cat populations, but also decreases common issues like fighting, spraying, and overcrowding in local shelters. By working closely with municipalities and focusing on long-term population management, the Monmouth County SPCA is easing pressure on shelters while creating healthier environments for both animals and residents. It’s a strong example of how local collaboration can deliver meaningful, lasting results in communities across Monmouth County.

🍔 FOOD & 🍹 DRINK
🍷 Schlossbach’s Marée Coming to Spring Lake
A new addition to Monmouth County’s dining scene is already generating buzz as Marée, an ocean-inspired bistro, prepares to open in Spring Lake. Founded by acclaimed Jersey Shore chef Marilyn Schlossbach and developer Bret Morgan, the restaurant is rooted in a vision of community, craftsmanship, and seasonality. According to its official website, Marée will feature seasonal American fare, craft cocktails, and a curated wine program, all designed to create a welcoming, neighborhood gathering place. Adding to its uniqueness, the restaurant will be housed in a former bank building, blending historic character with a fresh coastal aesthetic—a nod to its mission of honoring the past while shaping what’s next for Spring Lake.
A standout feature of the concept is its exclusive “Cave Marée” wine locker program, which will offer a limited number of climate-controlled private lockers, concierge wine service, and access to rare selections—bringing a high-end, experiential element to the otherwise approachable bistro setting. This positions Marée in an interesting contrast to the recently opened Olea, which leans into a more traditionally upscale, Mediterranean-inspired dining experience. While Olea emphasizes refined, destination-style dining, Marée aims to balance elevated food and beverage offerings with a relaxed, community-driven atmosphere. Together, the two concepts highlight the growing diversity of Monmouth County’s dining scene—where both sophisticated culinary experiences and thoughtfully designed neighborhood gathering spots are finding their place.

🤼♂ Monmouth County Wrestling
Several Monmouth County grapplers made their mark at the 2026 NJSIAA individual state wrestling championships in Atlantic City, with a standout performance by Thomas Blewett of Middletown North, who captured a state title in his weight class, and Holmdel High School senior Alex Reyes earning a third‑place finish statewide, underscoring the strength of the county’s wrestling programs at the highest level of competition this season. In addition to these top individual achievements, multiple Shore Conference wrestlers advanced deep into the state tournament brackets last week, contributing to a strong showing from local athletes and adding momentum to Monmouth County’s proud wrestling tradition as the winter season draws to a close.
