🎡 Manasquan Fireman’s Fair
A cherished shore tradition returns next week as the annual Manasquan Fireman's Fair takes over Mallard Park from Tuesday, July 28 through Saturday, August 1. Hosted by Volunteer Engine Company No. 2, the five-day summer event brings classic carnival rides provided by Skelly's Amusements, festival games hosted by the Manasquan Elks Lodge, local food tents, and live music inside the Leggett's Beer Garden. Drawing over 30,000 visitors each year, the free-admission fair runs from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM nightly, offering discounted pre-sale ride passes and a high-stakes $25,000 Super 50/50 raffle to support the borough's volunteer firefighters.
🚲 NJ’s New E-Bike Laws - What to Know
Strict Age Ban: Anyone under 15 years old is prohibited from operating any e-bike on public roadways.
Mandatory Licensing: Riders 17 and older can use a standard, valid NJ driver’s license. Unlicensed riders and those aged 15–16 must obtain a Motorized Bicycle License through the NJMVC by passing a written knowledge test, vision screening, and road test.
Statewide NJMVC Registration: All e-bikes garaged in New Jersey must be registered through the NJ Motor Vehicle Commission, with registration stickers displayed on the bike.
Mandatory Liability Insurance: Throttle-assist (Class 2) and higher-speed (Class 3) e-bikes require a dedicated liability insurance policy ($15k/$30k bodily injury, $5k property damage). Standard auto or homeowners insurance policies generally do not satisfy this requirement.
Pedal-Assist Distinction: Low-speed, pedal-assist-only models (Class 1, up to 20 mph) require registration and a license, but are exempt from the liability insurance mandate.
Documents Required While Riding: Operators must carry three physical items while riding on public streets: their driver's or motorized bicycle license, MVC registration certificate, and insurance card (if applicable to their class).
Crackdown on Speed & Online Sales: The legislation includes a temporary ban on the online advertising, sale, and aftermarket speed-modification kits for high-speed e-bikes (750W+ / 28+ mph) to prevent riders from bypassing speed classifications.
