❄️ Snowplow Naming Contest for 5th Graders

The Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners just launched the third annual Snowplow Naming Contest, inviting fifth-grade students across the county to submit their most creative ideas by Monday, December 22. Following in the footsteps of past winning entries like "Born to Plow" and "Snow Force 1," participants are asked to send a letter via email or mail explaining the inspiration behind their proposed name along with advice for staying safe during winter storms. Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone expressed eagerness to review this year's imaginative submissions, noting that the selected winner will have the unique honor of seeing their chosen name painted on a county snowplow and attending its official unveiling.

Ragin’ Cajun in Belmar, the Monmouth County mainstay for over 30 years, is introducing a fun new dining concept for the winter season-Igloo Dining! Their igloo (pictured below) can accommodate 2-6 guests. $75 per person will get you a soup or salad, any entree off their regular menu, and bananas foster or a warm brownie sundae for dessert. They’re offering two seatings on Wednesday and Thursday nights and three seatings Friday-Sunday.

Rook Coffee and Bang Cookies have combined forces to create a new, limited-edition dessert-the 'Rook New Orleans Style Cookie. This handcrafted, small-batch cookie infuses Rook’s signature, bold New Orleans coffee blend with Bang Cookies’ soft, chewy style, marrying the robust flavor of coffee with indulgent sweetness. The collaboration is a partnership between these two locally grown companies that emphasize quality, craftsmanship, and community connection, both having built loyal followings since their founding—Rook Coffee in 2010 and Bang Cookies in 2016. The new cookie launched earlier this month and is available at all Rook Coffee's locations across Monmouth and Ocean Counties and select Bang Cookies stores.
