Good morning, Monmouth County! This is it! Memorial Day Weekend is here! Whether you embrace this season at the Jersey Shore or hold your breath until local summer, there’s always a lot going on and a lot of fun to be had. And we’re here to share it with you.

Our favorite MDW kickoff event is the Spring Lake 5. Whether or not you’re up to hoofing it with the 12,500 registered runners on the five mile course through town, it’s a great event for runners and spectators alike. If you’re a local you know all about the Spring Lake 5, now in its 47th year. But you may not be aware of the other downtown festivities on race day. Running with or watching 12,500 runners as they wind their way through this beautiful town is event enough. But if you’re interested in making more of the day, there’s also a sidewalk sale and beer garden in the downtown district.

So far the weather looks like it’s going to cooperate. 60’s and overcast is race day perfection. Fingers crossed.

Locale opened back in December so the foodies have been all over this place for months but it’s getting great BUZZ! Top shelf Italian complete with wood-fired Neopolitan pizzas and crafty cocktails like their Ginger’s Cactus. Plan ahead though. It’s in high demand.

Surfs Up Coffee and Candle (Red Bank)

New this month. Cool little shop serving up signature coffee drinks as well as their all natural hand-poured soy wax candles and bath and body products. Local people. Local products. We love it.
