Cinco de Buzzo!

Together With Our Friends At

This is the second dry run issue of Monmouth Buzz! If you’re reading this you’re on the ground floor with us and we love you. Thank you. We’re gonna turn this into something cool. We’ve received some great feedback so far and it’s helping us immensely. So, if you have any suggestions, big or small, please let us know. Format, content, anything. Text us, e-mail ([email protected]), DM on Facebook or Instagram. Thank you again! We can’t do this without you!

Buenos Dias, Monmouth County! Cinco de Mayo the day before Taco Tuesday? Is this some kind of sick joke? Cinco de Mayo is probably better on Friday or Saturday for fiesta purposes. But this year it’s the cilantro lime crema on what will most likely be a rainy Monday. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t still enjoy all the tacos, tequila, and Tecate you like. But maybe go easy on the latter two - or Taco Tuesday might be less bueno. 🤢

If you’re not hip to the mysteries of Tecate, a friend from El Paso once taught me to pour it over a glass of ice with lime and a generous pinch of sea salt. You’re welcome. Have one for me! I’ll be working night shift.

On to the good stuff!!

iPlay America is giving our nurses and teachers some much deserved appreciation on Thursday May 8th and Friday May 9th. The real heroes who we trust everyday with our lives and our children ride for free all day and get 50% off wristbands for their families. Not to mention happy hour all day at The Bistro. You guys deserve that and a whole lot more. Thank you for all you do!

The Wonder Wing is open at the Monmouth Museum everyday except Monday. Tuesday-Friday 10am-4pm. If you’ve never been, The Wonder Wing is a play and educational exhibit for kids 6 years and under. There lots of fun exhibits like a pirate ship play space, whale slide, climbable treehouse, and a lot more. Perfect if the weather outside is less than gorgeous.

Chick-fil-A in Eatontown is hosting Storytime with the Cow. It’s a free event at 9 am. The Chick-fil-A cow will entertain the kids with some “storytime magic.” Random? Yes. But have you had a fried chicken biscuit for breakfast?

Kids: Make a Theme Song at the Freehold Raceway Mall Apple Store. “Create a theme song for a favorite show, book, or game using GarageBand on iPad. We’ll cover rhythm basics, and kids will experiment with drums, add prerecorded loops, and remix their theme song. Bring your iPad or we’ll provide one. Recommended for ages 8–12.”

Local Events

Wine, Chocolate, and More! A tasting event hosted by the Greater Ocean Chamber of Commerce. May 8th at 5:30 PM. Wine and beer tasting, chocolates, sweet treats, antiques, food. Located at the Shore Antique Center in Allenhurst.

Ladies Night Out at the Manasquan Business District will be “a night filled with music, sales, and great women.” Thursday May 8th from 4 pm-8 pm.

The Grove West at Shrewsbury is also hosting a pre-Mother’s Day event. Grove Gals will be on May 8th from 5:30 pm - 8 pm. Bites, sips, music, photobooth, pop-ups, giveaways, and VIP experiences. Grab a gal pal and check it out!

Korean War 1950-1953: Monmouth County Library Eastern Branch in Shrewsbury. “Join us for this presentation to learn about the war’s key aspects and the armistice that halted the fighting - an agreement that remains in effect today. Monday May 5th 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm.

Food and Drink

Rosie’s second location in Middletown has been open for a few months but with an 8.5 Barstool rating it’s worth not forgetting. It’s anchor location in Point Pleasant Beach was a coat closet and you had to be on the phone before noon if you wanted to get an order in for dinner. The demand for these pies is pretty crazy so they have very specific ordering instructions and times. Make sure you check that out beforehand. But when you bite into a slice you’ll get the hype.

The Promenade Waterfront Grill at the Avon Pavilion in Avon-by-the-Sea opened on 5/1. So essentially, AvPav is back! Enjoying a meal at the ocean’s edge is one of those vacation vibe feels we get to enjoy more than the average bear because we live in Monmouth County. Don’t miss an opportunity to wine and dine as the waves crash. And it’s a BYO! So much winning!
