✅ #YourVoteMatters High School Video Reel Contest

Monmouth County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon has officially launched the annual #YourVoteMatters High School Video Reel Contest, inviting local high school students across Monmouth County to harness their digital storytelling skills to champion the importance of civic engagement. Designed to empower the next generation of voters, the competition challenges teenagers—whether working independently or in small teams—to produce short, original social media video reels that articulate why voting matters and how participating in local, state, and federal elections shapes their communities. Submissions will be evaluated by county election officials for originality, clarity, and educational impact, with the top three entries earning gift card prizes and prominent publication across the County Clerk’s official social media platforms and regional voter-outreach initiatives ahead of Election Day. By meeting young creators on the platforms they use every day, the initiative provides a creative civic outlet that turns peer-to-peer digital communication into a catalyst for lifelong democratic participation.

👩‍🍳 Executive Chef of the Year Nominee Aishling Stevens

The Grand Tavern’s Executive Chef Aishling Stevens has earned major statewide recognition after being named a finalist for the prestigious 2026 Executive Chef of the Year Award by the New Jersey Restaurant & Hospitality Association (NJRHA). Stevens, who took over the kitchen at Neptune’s beloved neighborhood tavern earlier this year, stands as Monmouth County’s sole contender in the elite category, competing alongside just seven other celebrated Garden State chefs including Cliff Crooks and Dennis Foy. The nomination spotlights Stevens’ celebrated approach to seasonal, technique-forward cooking and locally sourced coastal ingredients, cementing The Grand Tavern’s reputation as one of the Shore’s most inventive dining destinations. Public voting for the award remains open online through October 23, with the final honorees set to be celebrated during the annual NJRHA Awards Gala on November 5.
