Holiday Craft & Vendor Show | Olea Grand Opening | Ms. Holmes & Ms. Watson

Together With

Good morning Monmouth County! As we write this issue there are 23 Christmas trees on the first floor of our house. Amanda doesn’t think we should be counting the little ones (12) in her Christmas village because 23 Christmas trees makes us sound crazy. Ok, so we have 11 Christmas trees on our first floor. Much better.

Let’s go!

🚲️ Before You Buy That e-Bike

Plenty of you reading this have no doubt already purchased your kids an e-Bike. But if you’re like us and were considering buying one this Christmas, there’s good reason to give it extra consideration.

Emergency rooms are reporting a nationwide spike in serious injuries and deaths from e-bikes and e-scooters. At Penn State Health Children’s Hospital, doctors have treated more children for these accidents in 2025 than in the previous three years combined.

The increase in incidents and severity is being attributed to, as we’re sure you can imagine, their high rates of speed as well as distractions like cell phones.

Now we haven’t ruled it out entirely yet for this year but we’re definitely giving a lot more thought to it in light of these reports.

Key safety advice includes:

  • Age: The American Academy of Pediatrics advises against use for anyone under 16.

  • Helmets: Always wear a helmet, preferably one that covers most of the skull, like a motorcycle helmet.

  • Alertness: Stay off phones and headphones, stay visible with lights, and be aware of traffic and road hazards.

🍔 FOOD & 🍹 DRINK

🫒 Olea Coming to The Shore Club in Spring Lake

The complete transformation of The Shore Club in Spring Lake looks like it’s done with the December 4th opening of Olea, an elevated, Mediterranean-inspired restaurant by Executive Chef Bud Carter, formerly of The Butcher’s Block, and ECS Hospitality Group. The new coastal dining destination is located in the space formerly occupied by The Sea Crest Grille.

Olea aims to merge coastal elegance with timeless sophistication. The menu will draw inspiration from the Mediterranean coast while celebrating local, seasonal ingredients from area farmers and fishermen. Diners can expect fresh seafood, hand-cut meats, and house-made pastas, all highlighted by Chef Carter’s signature wood-fired cooking style. The space will also include a lounge offering a distinguished wine list and handcrafted cocktails.

"Olea is about more than food—it’s about gathering, storytelling, and creating a sense of place," said Chef Carter. "Olea brings together the coastal flavors I love with the hospitality values we both share."

You can make reservations here.
