🛥️ Boaters Rescued Off Elberon

We’re all about the happy news and good people doing good things here at Monmouth Buzz! Well on Sunday, five boaters were rescued three miles off the coast of Elberon after their boat took on water and capsized. Good Samaritans on two separate boats spotted the distressed vessel. The crew of a boat named Gambler initially saw the five people on top of their swamped hull. Another unidentified nearby vessel took four of the mariners aboard, while the Gambler assisted the fifth. The U.S. Coast Guard and State Police were notified and subsequently brought all five rescued boaters, none of whom were injured, back to the Shark River Municipal Marina in Neptune. The cause of the boat taking on water remains unknown.

Personally, we’ve had a couple pretty terrible experiences with some of the bigger name plumbing companies. When we found A-General, it was like a gift. They’re local (Farmingdale) and family-owned, so you’re dealing with really nice, fair people. But they’re also big enough for 24/7 emergency response so you can count on them for literally anything. Every experience with A-General has been A+!!

🥞 ROADSIDE DINER (WALL)

We’ve been waiting very patiently and the day has finally arrived! Nicolas Kallas, the new owner of the Roadside Diner in Wall, is ready to unveil the fruits of his labor over the past few months. He opens the doors tomorrow at 7am and we can’t wait!

The Roadside Diner graced the cover of Bon Jovi’s 1994 greatest hits album “Crossroads” and appeared in Bruce Springsteen’s 2007 music video for “Girls in their summer clothes.” It’s a Jersey Shore landmark. After 27 years at the helm of the Roadside, former Chef/Owner Dimitri Gerakaris closed it’s doors on March 31st of this year in pursuit of a well-deserved retirement. 

Now, thanks to Kallas, this Monmouth County icon will have new life breathed into it. For a sneak peak at what you might expect from the new Roadside menu, check out Kallas’ Broad Street Diner in Keyport.
