New Jersey’s First Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center
Great news Monmouth County Parents! The K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital at Hackensack Meridian Health Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune is New Jersey’s first and only Level 1 pediatric trauma center. The hospital announced earlier this year that they received this distinction from the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma. The adult trauma center has had the Level 1 distinction since 2022.
K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital along with Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital in Hackensack is ranked the #1 Children’s Hospital in New Jersey by U.S. News and World Report. As parents of three boys, we’ve logged our fair share of hours in the E.R. already. It definitely helps us breath a little easier knowing the highest level of care in New Jersey is so close to home.

On this day 50 years ago, James Riddle “Jimmy” Hoffa was reported missing after failing to return home the night before. Although still officially a cold case, his disappearance is widely presumed to be a mob hit. Hoffa was president of the Teamsters Union and one of the most powerful and important union leaders in American history.
