Perched atop a 200-foot bluff in Highlands, a new 24/7 broadcast-quality livestream is revealing a panoramic vantage point that remains a hidden gem even to most Shore locals. As the highest point on the Atlantic coast between Maine and the Yucatán Peninsula, this unique location offers a direct, unobstructed view of the entrance to New York Harbor. The Highlands Harbor Cam, featuring 4K resolution and a 31x optical zoom capable of reading hull names in the Ambrose Channel, captures every container ship, cruise liner, and military vessel transiting the East Coast's busiest port. Since its launch, the stream has rapidly attracted a global audience, logging over 85,000 views in its first week as viewers tune in to watch sunsets over the Manhattan skyline and storms rolling across the storied Sandy Hook Bay.

This ambitious project is the latest venture of Above the Hook, a place-based media brand established in September 2025 to document the unique coastline and history of the Highlands waterfront. By integrating documentary filmmaking, original music, and a quarterly print magazine, the brand aims to provide an immersive look at this maritime corridor that spans from the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge to Long Beach, Long Island. The livestream serves as a digital window into the community, archiving continuous footage of one of the most important waterways in American history. As one of the fastest-growing harbor cams on YouTube, the project successfully bridges the gap between local heritage and a modern, worldwide audience.

Monmouth Men’s Basketball wrapped up a strong late-season surge, finishing fifth in the CAA standings. Although they fell short of an NCAA bid, senior and Manasquan local Jack Collins received a standing ovation in his final home game after a decorated career with the Hawks.

Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) has been crowned the #1 team in the final Shore Sports Insider Boys Basketball rankings for 2026. The Colts finished a perfect 15-0 against Shore Conference opponents, reclaiming the SCT title for the first time in 16 years.

Manasquan Girls Basketball continues to make history, recently securing their state-record 12th Public School State Championship with a dominant win over Caldwell. They were just named the Shore Sports Insider Team of the Week.

Rumson-Fair Haven Boys also made local history this week, reaching the Group II overall state championship game for the first time. Despite a hard-fought loss to Ramsey, the Bulldogs finished as the only Shore team to reach an overall state final this season.
